Hello my Foggies!
I’m sorry I haven’t posted recently. It’s been a crazy few weeks. I haven’t been feeling my best, and the days just seemed to slip away. But no worries—I’m back now.
And now, the exciting conclusion of The Marination of the Eyeballs!
I went back to the eye doctor last week, and thankfully, my eyes have healed. I am now the proud new owner of a pair of punctal plugs. They’re securely placed in my tear ducts, where they’ll reside for the next 10 years. My doctor will check them at every exam, and they can easily be removed or replaced if needed.
The good news? The plugs didn’t hurt going in. They used a numbing gel in the corner of my eye, slipped the plug in, and that was that. At first, it felt like something was stuck in my eye, but the discomfort faded quickly. I’m glad it’s done—and even more glad I don’t have to repeat the process anytime soon!
Now that my eyes are finally cooperating, I’ve been looking around and noticing other changes in life. September, for example, always feels a little strange. My kids have been out of school for a few years now, and surprisingly, I don’t get that back-to-school feeling anymore. I thought I’d feel like I was forgetting to send them off or pack a lunch, but honestly—I don’t. In fact, I haven’t really felt that way.
After 17 years of field trips, open houses, concerts, homework, and late-night project rescues, it just… ends. One day, my kids were students; the next, they were graduates.
I thought it would feel like a huge shift, but instead, it’s almost like I forget kids are still in school at all—until I get stuck in school traffic or see a yellow bus rumbling down the road. Then I remember: Oh yeah, that’s still a thing. (lol)
There are things I miss, though. Not the early mornings (never the early mornings), but definitely the concerts. Both of my kids played in the school orchestra, and over the years, they put on some incredible performances. Every few years, they even traveled internationally with their group—what an experience!
So here I am, with freshly marinated eyeballs and no school schedules to keep. Life is quieter, stranger, and somehow just as full of surprises.
⭐ And that’s a wrap — or maybe a blink.
If you’ve followed the great eyeball saga this far, hit that ⭐ Like, follow Brain Fog & Brilliance, and share this with your favorite fellow blinker.
Because sometimes, the only thing more dramatic than the treatment is the retelling. 💭
