Happy Monday!
I hope this finds everyone happy and healthy.
A few months ago, I turned 50. It’s a strange thing. I know I’m 50—my kids are both in their 20s, so clearly I’ve been around for a while. I can see the signs of getting older. And yet, my brain often thinks I’m still 30.
When my kids were young, we loved going to the drive-in. We’d pack up the cooler with drinks, throw together snack bags, pajamas, pillows, and blankets. Dinner was usually pizza, and then off we’d go. We stayed for both movies, which meant rolling home around 2 a.m. Since it was the weekend, no one had to get up early the next morning. It was cheap, fun, and always an adventure. Where else could four people see two movies for under $20?
Fast forward to 2023. My husband and I decided it would be fun to go to the drive-in again. Same routine: snacks, pillows, blankets, one of our mostly grown kids, and pizza for dinner. The drive felt longer than I remembered, but we had an audiobook to keep us entertained.
We parked, settled in, and watched the first movie. By the time it ended—close to 11 p.m.—I was completely ready to go home. What happened to the mom who thought nothing of rolling in at 2 a.m., tossing the kids in bed, and still staying up to watch a little TV? Who is this woman ready for bed before the second movie even starts?
Apparently, while my brain thinks I’m 30, my body knows I’m not..
Have you seen the “adultier adult” meme on social media? I laugh every time because it’s so accurate. Being an adult isn’t about having it all figured out. It’s mostly just faking it until you make it.
But here’s the kicker: at some point, you realize you are the adultier adult. The one people come to for answers. The one with the “experience.” Me? The same person who still feels 30 inside? How is that even possible?
Anyway, I’d love to stay and puzzle this out, but my aching hips and sudden urge to pee just reminded me: I’m definitely 50!
⭐ Feeling 50…ish? Same.
If you’ve ever thought, “I don’t feel my age,” right before doing something that immediately proves you are, welcome to the adultier side of life.

Because growing up is optional — recovery time is not. 💭
